On April 6 around 2 a.m., officers responded to a carjacking attempt in a parking lot in the area of Yonge St. and Glen Cameron Rd.

The victim was walking to her vehicle when a suspect approached and pulled her away. A second suspect then entered her vehicle.

A struggle ensued and the woman’s husband joined the melee to help. As the suspects attempted to flee in the victim’s car, they crashed into another vehicle in the parking lot while the husband tried to pull the suspect out of the vehicle.

The suspects then ran to a getaway car, a white Acura parked nearby, driven by a third suspect.

YRP detectives later learned that the Acura had been stolen from Peel Region on April 1.

The carjacker struck again on April 7 when the Acura was used in the heist of a blue BMW in Toronto. After crashing into police cruisers, the suspects in that case were charged by Toronto Police.

On April 13, investigators, with the assistance of the Emergency Response Unit, located the stolen Acura with three suspects inside.

They utilized flashbangs, a distraction device that produces a flash of light and loud noises. The suspects attempted to flee on foot, tossing a loaded firearm. All three were taken into custody and the stolen vehicle was recovered.

Poshur Williams, 18, of Toronto and two male youths, ages 15 and 16, were hit with numerous firearm and property offences. In addition, Williams was out on release at the time, police said.

Investigators believe there may be other suspects linked to this criminal network and are appealing for anyone with information to contact the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
